Little Blue Earth

Isn't this photo strikingly wonderous!   Planet Earth as photographed from Apollo 17.
From this perspective, the blue planet reminds many of a child's toy marble.  However, we know it to be quite more complex and valuable.  This image is shared publicly online in Wikimedia Commons
and is in the public domain because it was created by NASA.   The accompanying caption reads;
"The Blue Marble" is a famous photograph of the Earth taken on December 7, 1972 by the crew of the Apollo 17 spacecraft en route to the Moon at a distance of about 29,000 kilometers (18,000 statute miles). It shows Africa, Antarctica, and the Arabian Peninsula.

Government's GreenPower gives tick of approval

If every Australian switched to clean, renewable energy today, Australia's total greenhouse pollution would be cut by an astounding 30%.
That's the equivalent amount pumped out by more than 40 million cars each year!

That's the news from GreenPower, the organisation providing government accreditation for renewable energy suppliers.  GreenPower ensure renewable energy products such as mini hydro, biomass and wind power are produced with no net greenhouse gas emissions.
Their key responsibility is to ensure when 'green power' is bought on your behalf by your energy provider, that it meets the "highest environmental standards".

By choosing to buy a GreenPower product, the small additional contribution in your bill is reinvested in the renewable energy sector.  The 'tick' logo shows the company's approval for the renewable energy investment that you are making in our future.    GreenPower is a joint initiative of ACT, NSW, SA, QLD, VIC and WA government agencies to confidently guarantee renewable energy products.
