Cool Battery Technology to Harness Power of the Wind

Brittany Cook

A new Australian design to store wind generated power would save more than 345,000t of GHG emissions each year.
Brisbane-based company, EcoBattery Solutions has released details of their new power storage technology. Focusing on wind power storage applications, the enhanced batteries create a dependable flow of energy and power storage. The innovation is a new edge for energy storage technologies in the move toward greener energy solutions.

The fresh-faced board from EcoBattery Solutions presented their concepts on Monday morning, at the University of Queensland.  EcoBattery Solutions has their sights on the anticipated renewable energies boom, with hydro, solar and thermal power likely to be included in their future projects.
Spokesperson, Doris Wang said the company had high confidence and aspirations in their field.
"We aim to build a solid foundation in one renewable energy market before expanding further."
The Enhanced Lead-Acid Storage Unit, known as "ELASU", is the fruition of many months of design, testing and innovation. By creating an energy storage unit capable of capturing massive units of power and incorporating a self-cooling temperature control system, the batteries are kept in their optimal working environment. This allows for greater efficiency of use and longer battery life.

EcoBattery Solutions are gaining an edge over current energy storage technologies by producing a more efficient, environmentally-friendly, low maintenance and safe operational use battery, at a lower price.
The capacity of these ELASUs are a huge 50,000kW hrs per day, being enough to power 70,000 Australian homes. The 'green energy' benefits would mean a decrease of 345,000t of GHG emissions each year, according to company estimates.

The company intends to initially market themselves to pre-existing wind power sites in Europe, the United States and East Asia, but anticipates further expansion with the industry.  EcoBattery Solutions view themselves as a link in the move towards 'greener energy', helping to overcome the fluctuations, expenses and difficulties of the current renewable energies sector.
